Text: 2 Cor 5:9-11
INTRODUCTION
And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment Heb 9:27. Bema is the
judgment Seat of Christ. God has appointed His Son Jesus Christ to be the judge of all the Earth.
Acts 17:31, 1 Thess. 4:13-17, Luke 14:14, Matt. 16:27. May the Holy Spirit enlighten our hearts
in His Word in Jesus name.
1.WHO WILL BE JUDGED AT BEMA?
*Christians will be judged at this judgment. The judgment is not a trial to decide whether a
Christian is saved or not. The issue of salvation is settled while a believer is alive. Only those that
are glorified would be at Bema.

2.BELIEVERS WILL BE JUDGED FOR THEIR WORKS.
*The returning Lord examines the servants according to the talents that He had entrusted to them.
Matt 25:19,31-34
*Sins committed before conversion will not be judged. Heb. 10:17,
Acts 17:30.
*Sins committed and confessed after conversion will not be judged at Bema 1 John 1:9-10.
*At Bema, our works will be judged 1 Cor. 3:13, Eccls 12:14.
*Our Words will be judged.
Matt 12:36-37, James 3:6,13
*Our thoughts will be judged.
Matt 15:19-20, Matt 5:21-22, 27-28
*Our secrets will be judged.
Rom. 2:16
*Our motives will be judged.

3.RESULTS OF THE BEMA JUDGMENT.
There shall be rewards for our works. For the work that remains after being tested by fire, there
will be rewards & for the works that get burned will result in individual losses.

a)What are the Fireproof Christian works?
*Righteousness - a clean pure heart in the sight of God. Psa 24:3-4,
1 Pet 1:15-16, Rom 12:1, Heb 12:14
*A life of faith in Christ and obedience to God’s Word. Heb 11:6, Isa 26:3-4, Psa 119:9, Eccl
12:13-14, Gal 5:22-25
b) What are the Combustible Christian works that will not stand the test?
All forms of wickedness, cheating, bribery, dishonesty, Pride, Influence benefits, yielding to
youthful lusts.

4.PREPARING FOR THE BEMA
*By constant Communion with Jesus Christ, constant self-examination and correction. Jn 15:4-6,
2 Cor 13:5, Lam 3:40
*Constant confessing of sin to Christ and asking for forgiveness. Constant prayer of endurance to
the end, studying and meditating in the Word of God to remain strong and focused to the end. 1
Thess 5:17, Eph 6:18, Josh 1:8, Matt 24:13
*Constantly being led by the Holy Spirit. Rom 8:14, Gal 5:16,25
*By having a conscience void of offense before God and man. Acts. 24:16, Heb 12:14
CONCLUSION
For Bema to be a day of joy, glory and crowning, the preparation should start now. 2 Tim 4:1-5.
May God testify that we have been good and faithful servants and are worthy of eternal life with
Him when our Lord Jesus returns in Jesus name.
