CONFIDENT EXPECTATION

CONFIDENT EXPECTATION

Text: Isa 40:27-31
INTRODUCTION
Hope in things that surround us can bring distractions. Hope in people wanting to control us can
bring disappointments. Hope in ourselves can bring devastation.
Isa 31:1, Psalms 33:17, Prov 21:31. But hope in Christ alone can bring deliverance 1 Pet 1:3,
Acts 4:12. Hope in Christ triggers the feeling of an expectation of positive outcomes with respect
to events and circumstances in the life of a true believer Rom 5:1-5.
1.CONFIDENT EXPECTATION
*For a believer, Hope in the Scriptures means a strong and confident expectation. And we are
commanded to live by faith Rom. 1:17, Heb 11:1-6.
*As we have been facing storms of all kinds, shut down, locked down, job losses, stress, we need
to be confident of what our Hope is and where our Hope is placed, in Christ alone
Psa 112:7, Heb 10:23, Phil 1:6, Rom. 8:24-25, Psa. 42:11, Isa. 40:31.
2.THE REWARDS OF HOPE
*Hope is dynamic, never passive. It is active, directive, vibrant and life sustaining.
Hope changes how we see ourselves 2 Cor. 5:17, Rom 6:4.
*It changes what we value Phil. 3:8, Psalms 73:25.
*It changes what we do with our lives, talents, time, and treasures
Gal 2:20, Matt 6:19-21, Matt 25:14-15 & 19.
*Hope gives us joy, protection. It gives us strength, courage, and boldness
Rom. 15:13, Psa. 33:18-21, Psa. 31:23-24.
CONCLUSION
Hope is the confident expectation, the certainty that what God has promised in His Word is true,
has occurred, and will happen in accordance with God's sure Word. We must never as Christians
put our Hope in anything other than the Lord because those other things will leave us ashamed,
frustrated, disappointed and in ruin Psa. 62:5.
We are to declare in Christ with certainty that God has everything pertaining to our lives under
control. Amen
