THE UNQUENCHABLE FIRE
BIBLE STUDY Sept 6th 2023
TOPIC: THE UNQUENCHABLE FIRE
Introduction: A church worker recently asked about Hell, as taught by the Scriptures. He wanted clarification
about the meaning, purpose and all that we need to know. The Scriptures interchangeably use terms like Hell,
Sheol, Pit, Hades etc. to describe the final destination of Satan, his angels and men and women that choose to
go with him. May the Light of God’s Word shine in our hearts for profitable understanding and action in Jesus’
name.
WHAT IS HELL?
*Hell is banishment from the presence of God. 2 Thess. 1:9
*Hell is the waiting place for sinners before the final judgment of every soul including everyone that rejects
Christ and Nations that forget God. 2 Pet. 2:4, Psa. 9:17
*Hell is a place of torment, punishment and eternal regrets. Luke 16:23, Matt 25:46
*Hell is real, it is a place of fire. Matt. 3:12, Isa. 33:14, Matt. 13:42,50
*It is a palace of worms. Mk. 9:44,46,48
THE ORIGIN, DIMENSION & LOCATION OF HELL.
*Hell was originally prepared for Satan and his wicked angels (demons)
Hell was never intended for man but if men insist on rejecting Heaven through Christ the Savior, then, they
must accompany Satan forever in Hell. Matt 25:41
*Because of man’s insistence on going there, hell is expanding. Isa. 5:14, Prov. 27:20
*Hell is beneath the earth. Isa. 14:9, Ezekiel 32:27, Numb. 16:30-33, Eph. 4:9
THE EXTRAS OF HELL
*There will be the ability to recognize one another. Luke 16:23
*There will be the ability to pray, though the prayer will be denied. Luke 16:27
*Man will still have desires, but his desires will be denied. Luke 16:24-27
THE FINAL DESTINATION
*At the end of all things, anyone that is listed by the Lord Jesus Christ as castaway, will be thrown into the
Lake of fire along with Satan, hell and death. Rev 20:11-15
Conclusion: The Bible repeatedly says that both Heaven and hell are eternal and everlasting. In view of the
above revelations, isn’t it necessary for you and I to re-appraise our walk as Christians with Christ? Isn’t it a
provable fact that our lives on this Earth are but for a moment? 1 Pet 2:11. If so, let us ponder on what we are
and what we do now and ask ourselves where exactly we think we are heading to if we leave this Earth today 2
Cor 13:5. If you have never given your life to Christ at any time, please for your own sake and your eternity,
run to Jesus now. And if you are a backslider who has tasted Christ once and abandoned Him for the enticement
of this world, please reconsider your ways and return to God. May the Lord keep us in Him unto eternity in
Heaven in Jesus name.
