TOPIC: INTERNAL COMBUSTION

INTRODUCTION
The Church of Christ was birthed in fire. At Pentecost, a spark was ignited and Christianity was
born. The event at Pentecost fulfilled John the Baptist’s revelation of Christ Matt. 3:11.
At Pentecost, the tongues of fire rested on Christ’s disciples and they were never the same.
Acts 2:1-4
The Church must be immersed in the fire of the Holy Ghost to matter to God's Kingdom agenda.
This is one of the major tools that Christ has made available for the Church to accomplish the
mandate given to it. Acts 1:8
May the Lord amplify our understanding of the role of the Holy Spirit in our journey with Christ
in Jesus name.
1.FROM INSIDE TO OUTSIDE
In the testimony of Prophet Jeremiah, there was an internal combustion of the Holy Spirit in His
soul. Jer.20:9
*This is the kind of encounter that makes Christians become unstoppable in the race to eternity.
Rom. 8:35-39
*This is the kind of encounter that can ignite godly zeal and unwavering allegiance to the cause of
the gospel of Christ. Isa. 6:6-8, Luke 4:14, Acts 4;20, Psa 84:7
2. POWERLESS WITHOUT THE FIRE
*To be immersed in the power of the Holy Ghost is a command to every Christian.
And Christ has laid down the principles of how He wants His agenda to be carried out.
-Don't work for me without first receiving power Luke 24:49, Acts. 1:8, Rom 8:9.
-You must continue to refill with the Holy Ghost in order to finish strong. Acts 10:38
3.CONSEQUENCES FOR LACK OF HOLY GHOST POWER
*The Church of Christ will remain weak, powerless and ineffective.
John 6:63, 1 Sam. 2:9, Zech. 4:6, Psa. 33:17
*Serpents and Scorpions will have free reign. Luke 10:19
*The Church will replay the wilderness wandering of the children of Israel, there will be rebellion,
idolatry, perversion, everyone simply doing what is good in their own eyes etc.
Psa. 78:40, Numb. 32:13, Judges 8:34, Judges 17:1-6

*The Church preaching and teaching will remain ordinary stories and of no impact to the unsaved
world. John 6:63, 1 Cor. 2:4-5.
*Church growth as expected by Christ will be hindered. Real Church growth is not by any human
efforts or gimmicks. It is the reserve of the real owner of the Church to grow His Church.
Acts 2:37-41, Acts 1:8, Acts 22:15, 1 Cor 3:6-8
*God may not be willing to bring new converts into a lukewarm assembly that lacks the flames of
fire 2 Tim 2:1-2,14-16.
*God's purpose will be in jeopardy. Gross manifestations of the works of the flesh will be the order
of the day. Gal. 5:19-21, 2 Tim 3:1-8, Gal. 5:1
*There can never be a vacuum in life. Our lives as Christians are either run by the Holy Spirit or
we succumb to the flesh. 1 Sam. 16:14
4.CHARACTERISTICS OF A FIRE BRAND CHRISTIAN.
1.The Holy Spirit produces behavioral traits that are representative of Jesus in such a Christian.
Eph 5:1, 1 Pet 2:21, 2 Cor 3:18.
2. They understand that the Christian ministry is sacred and thus treat it with respect and tread with
care Phil 2:12.
3. They are led by the Holy Spirit in all things and never take any step without asking God. They
are practically on fire for the kingdom agenda and eternity focused.
Rom. 8;14, 1 King 22:5, 2 Tim. 4:8
CONCLUSION
It is a fundamental requirement for a Christian to experience the Internal spiritual combustion of
the Holy Spirit in order to live and succeed as a true representative of Christ. As we seek and thirst
for continuous filling of the Holy Spirit, may He possess and reign in us till Christ returns in Jesus
name.
