CONFIRM YOUR IDENTITY

CONFIRM YOUR IDENTITY

TOPIC: CONFIRM YOUR IDENTITY
Text: 1 Pet 2:9-12
INTRODUCTION
Man’s identity defines who he is, where he is from, what he does etc. People generally identify themselves differently. As for us Christians, we ought to know who we are in Christ 2 Cor 13:5 and it should not be difficult for the unbelieving world to recognize who we belong to.
In the early years of the Church, it was very easy to identify the disciples in Antioch Acts 11:26. The people were quick to recognize them as Christ’s followers Acts 4:13.
This study is meant to awaken us to the enormous expectation of God concerning our lives as a godly influence to the unbelieving world.
May our hearts be opened to the express cry of the Holy Spirit and His message in Jesus name.
1. YOU HAVE A GOD GIVEN NAME
*Like many Bible characters, believers were born into the new life accompanied by a name given by the Savior. 1 Peter 2:9-10, Matt 1:23, Luke 1:13
There are many other names that God gave His children and His followers.
New man 2 Cor 5:17, Friend of God John 15:15, Sheep of His pasture Psalms 100:3, Ambassador of Christ 2 Cor 5:20
.
2. BY OUR FRUITS WE SHALL BE KNOWN
*As Christians, what we manifest to the outside world is what they will use to identify us ie our lifestyle, words, deeds etc. Matt 5:16, 2 Tim 2:20
*See yourself as God sees you.
God is speaking to believers expressly. He is asking us pertinent questions.
Are we still the same believers that Christ called His friends?
Are we the same believers that Jesus called His ambassadors?
Are we still the same believers He called His Royal priesthood?
Are we still the same believers He called a peculiar and holy nation?
CONCLUSION
Our God is merciful and a loving Father. Per adventure, if we have lost or exchanged the names God has given us, this is the time to return to God in full obedience to all His commands and in faithfulness as the heirs of salvation Zech 1:3, 2 Tim 2:21. May the Almighty God help us to measure up to His standards and expectations in Jesus name.
