TOPIC: POWER FOR PURPOSE
INTRODUCTION: When Jesus was about to go to Father, He told His disciples that He would
not leave them alone and empty. He promised to send another of the same kind as Him to be with
them, The Holy Spirit John 16:7. Jesus saw it necessary for the Holy Spirit to come and live in
believers, because the New Covenant has a new way of life, to be emancipated by the power of
the Holy Spirit 2 Cor 3:17-18. However, it is of utmost importance that the Church fully
understand the purpose of being endued by the Power of the Holy Spirit Luke 24:49, Acts 1:8.
And knowing the purpose of this power should even encourage Christians to thirst more of the
anointing of the Holy Spirit. Because without the fulness of the Holy Spirit, Christianity would
remain a fable and believers' lives would also be colorless and burdensome.
1. WE ARE GIVEN POWER TO WITNESS CHRIST.
*The first and the most paramount reason Christians are empowered is to witness Christ to the
world. Acts 1:8, Matt 28:18-20
*Christ came to save the world. He revealed the Father to the world through Himself.Jn 12:44-46
*He laid down His life so that as many that accept Him can have eternal life. Jn 3:16-17
*The anointing is a supernatural empowerment to do the will of God and fulfill our purpose in
Christ. There is a specific task attached to our salvation Acts 9:6.
*The Anointing guarantees success. Like Jesus, Christians are to do the will of God Luke 4:18.
2.WE ARE GIVEN POWER FOR TRUE WORSHIP.
*As believers, we have the privilege of being able to enter into the presence of God through
worship. The worship is supernatural, it can only be accomplished with the help of the Holy Spirit
Jn 4:23-24.
If you want to have true Communion with God, feel His presence and be lost in His worship, you
need the Holy Spirit.
3.WE HAVE POWER IN ORDER TO MANIFEST OUR TRUE SONSHIP IN GOD.
*The Christian life is supernatural. Christians live on Earth but are seated with Christ in Heaven
to operate in the supernatural Eph 2:6.
*Each of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is given for the perfection of God's project on Earth through
Christians 1 Cor. 12:4-7, Eph 4:12.

4. WE ARE GIVEN POWER TO PERFORM.
In addition to witnessing, preaching, and teaching, Christians are also mandated to demonstrate
the miraculous power of God for the world to see and believe.
1 Cor 2:4-5, John 4:48, Acts 5:12, Rom. 8:19, Acts. 28:6, Mk. 16:17-18, Acts 14:8-18.
CONCLUSION
The Holy Spirit is the active force of the God Head Gen 1:2, Acts 10:38. The power of the Holy
Spirit is given to the body of Christ to work the work of the kingdom. It is not given to establish a
status. We cannot receive power and go to sleep. Above all, the power of the Holy Spirit is given
to glorify God in all. If not used to please and glorify God, it can be taken away 1 Sam. 16:14.
Without the Holy Spirit operating in a believer, Christianity will become a burden. Let us thirst,
ask and pray for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and may God fill us with His power to
succeed in the mission He has assigned to us in Jesus name.
