REASONABLE SERVICE

REASONABLE SERVICE

Text: 1 Pet 1:13-19
INTRODUCTION
Until the life of a Christian becomes a seed, excellence in the divine mandate becomes a struggle.
The mark of a Saint is not perfection, but consecration. A Saint is not a man without fault but a
man who has given himself without reservation to God.
God has revealed His expectations to us, so it is our duty to discover them and work with them.
May the Holy Spirit give us revelation in Jesus name.
1. SERVICE OFFERED MUST BE SACRIFICIAL
*The law of total abandonment demands that we forfeit things that we highly valued for the sake
of one considered to have greater value - The Kingdom of Heaven Mark 10:21-22, Matt. 19:27,
1 King 19:21, Luke 14:26
*Do away with anything that would come between you and being a living sacrifice acceptable unto
God. Rom 12:1, 1 Pet 1:16, 1 Cor 9:27, Rom 6:11-13
*We are to sacrificially offer our all as a whole burnt offering for His service.
John 3:16, Rom. 12:1
It must be presented willingly for His use. If not willingly and freely given, then it is unreasonable
and unacceptable. Eph. 6:7, Col. 3:23
2. THE SACRIFICE MUST BE LIVING TO BE ACCEPTABLE
*Christian service must be holy, pure in God's sight, otherwise it cannot be acceptable to Him.
Psa. 24:3-4, 1 John 3:3
*Give your members, your eyes, your tongue, your hands, and feet to the work of righteousness
and not to sin. Eph. 4:1, Rom. 14:18
*We are to do just what God commanded of us without adding or taking out and that will be
acceptable. 1 Sam. 15:10-11,18-23
*In addition to our sacrifice being holy and pure, we must submit daily & perpetually to Christ
Lordship. Gal 2:20, Rom 12:2, John 14:21, Luke 6:46
CONCLUSION
God is steadfast in His principles and dealings with His Church. We have everything to gain if we
stick to whatever God commands and that we do as we keep serving, watching, and expecting His
return. May God keep us standing firm in Him to the end in Jesus name.
