REVIVE US O LORD

TOPIC: REVIVE US O LORD
Text: Rev 3:15-21
INTRODUCTION:
The only way to avoid spiritual decay as believers is by progressing.
Three things in the life of a Christian constantly need to remain alive and positively active in Jesus - our
actions, feelings, and speech because these represent our true character.
-Our hands must be clean as they represent our actions.
-Our hearts must be pure as they represent our feelings.
-And our tongue must not be deceitful. It must be honest because it represents our speech. Psa. 24:3-4
1. WHAT IS REVIVAL?
*To come back to life, to return to consciousness, to regain vigor from a state of stupor.
Evangelism and revival are not the same thing. A sinner needs evangelism to come to the Lord.
You cannot revive a dead person. He needs a new birth. Psalms 51:5, Col 3:3
*A believer that backslides or is lukewarm or is cold needs to be revived.
*A revival is the return of the Christian from backsliding. It includes a deep conviction of sin.
*Revival is a new beginning of obedience to the Almighty God Rev 2:5.
2. WHEN IS REVIVAL NEEDED?
*You will not be revived unless you feel a need for it. You must desire it. When you hunger and thirst for
revival, God will give it.
The river of God is flowing but you will not drink of it until you are thirsty. Luke 15:17-18
*Revival is needed in the life of a Christian when there is a want of worldly camaraderie, worldliness,
dissension, jealousy, evil speaking, gossip, meddling, nosiness rather than spreading the good news,
bitterness, and hatred. Eph. 4:29, Gal. 5:19-21
3. HOW TO GET REVIVED
There are four concise steps to revival according to 2 Chron. 7:14
Only God’s true children can be revived. Sinners need to be converted.
*Humble themselves voluntarily bowing yourself in contrite submission. Do away with pride.
*Pray: - God is waiting for you to open your mouth and start confessing. Lay aside the memorized prayer
and just confess your individual sins. Prov 28:13, 1 John 1:9
*Seek My face: To seek is to search diligently. Why? Because when we sin, He turned His face away from
us. True confession restores contact. Isa 59:2,
*Turn from wicked ways: This is true repentance. Ask for God to give you a bitter hatred for sin Isa 55:7,
Prov 8:13.
4. RESULT OF REVIVAL
*God will hear your prayers - receiving it graciously and answering.
*God will forgive your sin. Psalms 32:5
*God will heal and restore and strengthen your lives 2 Chron 7:14. The Spirit and the Son will direct you.
CONCLUSION:
Do you feel lukewarm, cold, weak, tired, frustrated in your spiritual journey? Are you hungry and thirsty for revival? We may have it if we are ready to pay the price. The revived Christian has the potential of great blessing to the kingdom task and humanity. May God set you ablaze in His fire afresh in Jesus name
