SIN AGAINST THE HOLY GHOST

TOPIC: SIN AGAINST THE HOLY GHOST
Text: Eph 4:25-31
INTRODUCTION: The Holy Spirit is a person that can be sinned against. Christians must be careful lest
we sin against Him consciously or unconsciously. We will be looking at some instances in this study of
how we can sin against the Spirit of Jesus. As we study today, may the Holy Spirit illuminate our minds
in Jesus' name.
1.BLASPHEMED BY THE ARROGANCE OF MEN
*Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is one sin for which there is no forgiveness. It is called unpardonable
sin, the most awful sin that can be committed on Earth. Matt. 12:31-32, Mark 3:22-30, 1 John 5:8,
Heb 10:26-29
2.HE CAN BE VEXED BY THE DISOBEDIENCE OF MEN
*The root of vexation is rebellion caused by murmuring and complaining.
To refuse to accept and be content with our assigned place in the body of Christ but continuously
complain vexes Him. Isa. 63:9-10, Eph 4:30
3.RESISTED BY THE UNBELIEF OF MEN
*We resist the Holy Ghost when we doubt the Word of God. John 6:63
*Sometimes the Spirit quickens us to speak to a soul, to drop a sin, to live a separated life, instead of
obedience we resist His guidance.
4.WE CAN TEMPT HIM BY OUR INSINCERITY
*A Christian would be guilty under the above when he pretends to his brethren that he is wholly devoted
to God when he is actually withholding from God.
Every deception and exaggeration, every false impression intended to harm, and every lie to man is a lie
to the Holy Ghost. Acts. 5:1-9, 2 Kings 5:25-27, Psalms 51:10
5.GRIEVED AND QUENCHED BY THE FRIVOLITY OF MEN
*The Spirit trusts us to resist sin and obey the Lord. If we fail He is made sad.
The Spirit is pictured as a sensitive dove, one that is easily frightened away.
*He is grieved by light and every unprofitable conversation of saints.
Men filled with Holy Ghost are happy but solemn Eph.4:29-32, 1 Thess. 5:19-21
CONCLUSION: The Holy Spirit has been given to Christians to be our guide, strength, comfort and
friend in our walk with Jesus. We must be careful to do as God pleases always so that we will not separate
ourselves from Him and invoke God’s wrath upon us. Let us ask Him to take charge of our lives and help
us to live aright always in Jesus name.
