TOPIC: SOWING AND REAPING
Text: Galatians 6: 6-9
INTRODUCTION
God has provided so many principles in the Bible but the principle of “sowing and reaping” is
one of the most important principles for this present world and stretching beyond (Gen 8:22, 1st
Cor. 3: 13-14). Our today is a result of seed sown yesterday and our tomorrow is dependent on
the seed we sow today.(Gal 3:29)
This principle is a constant and won’t change just like God’s faithfulness (2nd Tim 2:13). The
importance of this principle cannot be overemphasized in the life of a believer with regards to
what seed we sow and where we sow these seeds (Matt 13:1-23). We must not forget that
whatsoever a man sows, he shall reap (Gal. 6:7). Consider Elisha (2King 2:9) or Gehazi
(2King 5:27)
Whatsoever a man does, so shall He reap
a) The Seed: Every seed has the potential of creating another seed (James 3:18).He that
supplies the seed is responsible for multiplying the seed (2 Corinthians 9:10). God only
multiplies that which we place into His hands as believers (1st Corinthians 3:5-6).
Food for Thought: Where are you getting your seed from?
b) Where are you sowing? – It is not sufficient to have a seed to reap but the seed must
be sown. (Gal 6:8). Where you sow determine what you will reap (Mark 4:20).
Food for Thought: Believers must do whatever in their means to sow into the Kingdom
of God (Matt 13:44)
c) Reaping: What a man sows, he shall reap. (Gal 6:7, Matt 7:17-18). We cannot sow
disobedience to God and expect to reap His blessing.
The reaping season is a reward time i.e., a payback period.(Rom2:6, Matt 16:27,2 Cor
5:10)
What you reap is greater than what you sow. (Matthew 13:32) Example Heaven/Hell.
Every work shall be assessed. (Matt. 7:23, 1st Cor. 1:8)
Time is required for what we sowed to be reaped. (Gal 6:9, Matt 13:29-30)
Conclusion
Believers must live with the thoughtfulness that we will give account and reap whatsoever we
have sown. Our best seed should be sown in the most fertile ground (which is in Jesus) after
the order of Abel and not be like Cain who reaped what he sowed. (Gen 4:7a “If thou doest well,
shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.)
