TOPIC. THE NIGHT COMETH
Text: John 9:1-5
INTRODUCTION
Christians are saved to serve. As sojourners on earth, we have been given a mandate to carry out in preparation for our eternal abode in Heaven 1 Chron 29:15, Phil 3:20, Heb 11:13.
Our days on earth are set and, in the timeframe, given, we must carry out our assigned task from God in preparation for our Lord Jesus’ return Eph 2:10. May we be enlighten in His Word today IJN
1. YOU HAVE A TASK TO CARRY OUT WITH A TIME FRAME
*Every believer has an allotted task and time within which to carry out the task assigned by God. Psalms 139:16, Eph 1:5
*God expects that we will complete our individual task in the time frame given.
For some it could be longer, for others it may be short.
Whatever the time, Jesus’ command is clear “Occupy till I come” Luke 19:13.
*It is your responsibility as Christians to go back to God and discover his or her own specific task.
Running in other people’s race for any reason is a wasted effort that will end in condemnation.
Matt 28:19-20, 1 John 3:8, Eph 4:11-13, Acts 9:6, 1 Cor 9:24
*God has embedded in every Christian the necessary gifts, talents and He has put at our disposal all the resources that we need to carry out our assigned task Matt 25:14-30.
2. Night Cometh
*We must do all we have been tasked to do as Christians while we can because there will definitely come a time when we will not be able to, either by reason of death, physical impediment, old age etc.
John 9:4, Eccl 11:5-9, 2 Tim 4:2
*We do not know the hour when God will say “Time is up”. John 11:9-10, Eph. 5:16
*Our Lord laid the pattern. He finished His assigned task successfully and completely. As His co-worker, we can’t do differently. We must succeed and we will succeed in Jesus name.
Matt 25:1-13, John 17:4, John 19:30, Acts 17:26, 2 Tim 4:5-7
We must carry out our task with all diligence and not haphazardly in order to please God.
John 4:34, 2 Tim 4:7
*We must do all that is required of us with dedication and absolute obedience to God.
Col 3:23-24, Heb 6:10-12.
CONCLUSION
Time is short and our Lord Jesus will return soon. Let us remain encouraged and be strengthened in Him always knowing that all our labor is unto eternal glory in Him in Heaven.
May our eternal satisfaction be in hearing these words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” IJN Matt. 25:23.
