WHILE YOU WAIT

WHILE YOU WAIT

Text: Acts 1:1-14
INTRODUCTION: Waiting on the Lord may be one of the most difficult aspects of our lives as
Christians. Humans are naturally impatient. No one likes to wait. But in our daily life there are
many instances where we have no choice but to wait. We wait to see the doctors, to buy our
groceries etc. Tonight, as we get to understand the importance of waiting on the Lord, may the
Holy Spirit enrich us with His wisdom, knowledge and understanding in Jesus name.
1. WAITING ON THE LORD REQUIRES PATIENT TRUST.
*Waiting is God’s way of seeing if we will trust Him before we move forward Psalms 40:1-4.
*Waiting on the Lord means we give God the benefit of the doubt that He knows what He is
doing and that He is in control of every situation or issue in our lives. Rom 4:21, Psa. 130:5-6,
Psalms 27:13-14, Job 14:14
*Waiting reminds us that we are not God - Our job is to have a watchman attitude: a confident
and alert expectation that God will do what He said He will do. Luke 12:25,35, Psalms 37:7,
Heb 10:23
*Waiting allows God to do His job. During these times, God is working in the background.
Hab. 2:1-3
2. WAITING BUILDS UP OUR FAITH AND MAKES US STRONGER.
There are more hidden benefits in Waiting.
*Our souls are revived and spirit renewed. Waiting on God increases our strength.
Isa. 40:31, 2 Cor 4:16
*Waiting on God can trigger the gust of the Spirit. Luke 24:49, Acts 2:1-4
CONCLUSION
God is a great mover. And if we wait, in patient trust, remembering that God is in control, doing
His work and increasing our strength, we will experience the move of God in our lives and in our
ministries. May God continually keep us in Jesus name.
